Senior Visitors
The Senior Visitors Program provides companionship for older adults — promoting friendship and connection with their community. The program provides social connections by matching lonely and isolated older adults with trained volunteers who provide weekly, home-based visits, phone calls, or other means of telecommunication.
There is no cost to the client since this program is part of our community service mission.
Our clients, usually 60+ years old, are individuals in a situation that keeps them from getting out of their home or staying active in the community. If you would like to refer someone to our program, please fill out our Client Referral form (download from the box below). If they are in need, we want to help.
Please note, clients with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s diagnoses are not eligible for the Senior Visitors program at this time. If you need assistance with finding local resources, please call us at (540) 371-2704.
Volunteers, 18 years or older, are asked to commit at least 6 months of time to our program. Each week, they will visit their senior client for one hour. Some volunteers simply sit and talk or find a common hobby or interest to enjoy together.
Volunteers can submit a Volunteer Application (download from the box below) to get started. Once approved, an orientation class and background check are required before being matched with a senior.
For more information about volunteering for the Senior Visitors Program, or about how to refer a senior citizen to the program, please contact the Senior Visitors Program at (540) 371-2704.
