You may have noticed mocktails popping up on menus alongside your favorite cocktails. These “zero-proof drinks” have the same complexity and depth as a traditional cocktail but may be better for your mental and physical well-being. Whether you’re interested in mocktails for yourself, or you want to explore non-alcoholic options for your next get-together – this blog will guide you in your journey to embracing mocktails!

Popular & Inclusive

Mocktails have gained popularity in recent years, and we can see why! Mocktails are a wonderful option for those who are abstaining from alcohol due to health concerns or those who are partaking in popular initiatives, such as “Sober October”. Zero-proof drinks are also a popular option for sober curious individuals and those who have committed to an alcohol-free lifestyle. In fact, 35% of people aged 28 to 43 preferred mocktails over other alcoholic beverages.
Zero proof cocktails are also a wonderful way to make your parties and social gatherings more inclusive for everyone in attendance. While people may live an alcohol-free lifestyle due to addiction, there are many who abstain for health, religious, or other personal reasons. Offering a mocktail option can help your guests feel more comfortable.

Alcohol & Mental Health

Alcohol use and mental health disorders have a high rate of cooccurrence. The most common mental health challenges associated with alcohol use are depression, anxiety, sleep, and stress disorders. In fact, 20% to 40% of people with alcohol use disorder, or AUD, have been treated for an anxiety disorder. Symptoms of mental health disorders are compounded by the side effects of alcohol.
Suicide rates have also increased by 60% in the last 40 years, along with the increase of alcohol consumption across many developed countries. Those who use alcohol heavily have an increased risk of suicide compared to the general population. Alternatively, alcohol use within a country has a direct impact on the rate of suicide. While alcohol usage can be responsible, it’s important to understand why some may decide not to take part!
