The Teen Brain: About Last Year’s Workshop

Hosted by Mental Health America of Fredericksburg:  The Teen Brain: Still Under Construction

Through the lens of emerging neuroscience, Dr. Vincent Culotta discussed the teen brain. Adolescence is a contradiction marked both by a neurodevelopmental work in progress and remarkable adaptability.

Dr. Culotta examined the teen brain in relation to several issues including gender, the juvenile justice system, learning and mood disorders, social media and video games, and substance abuse.  Dr. Culotta’s presentation provided cutting-edge findings from the fields of neuroscience, neuroimaging, and education. He discussed reports and anecdotes to help illustrate important findings and discuss recommendations and strategies to support successful outcomes for adolescents. Dr. Culotta will allow ample times for questions and discussion.
