CFC Deadline just a few days away CFC #: 71643

This is the final week to make your CFC pledge! #ShowSomeLoveCFC to Mental Health America of Fredericksburg and help us continue our work to improve the mental health of our community. CFC #: 71643.

As the new year advances, we think about our wishes for family and friends: prosperity and health in 2020. But, what about mental health and wellness? Last year, generous donors like you enabled Mental Health America of Fredericksburg to improve the mental health of family, friends, neighbors and our community through our free programs by providing:

  • Guidance, support and hands on coping strategies to teens struggling with the almost crippling effects of anxiety and depression through our Live Life Love Life support group.
  • Friendship, a renewed sense of purpose, and a safe connection to the community for seniors in our Senior Visitors program.
  • Information and referrals from an experienced, empathetic listener through our HelpLine for individuals and families struggling with a mental health crisis.
  • And knowledge about the warning signs for depression and suicide, and most importantly how to get help for local teens through our Suicide Prevention Education program.

Help us continue to erase the stigma associated with mental illness by: learning more about mental health and how to promote wellness, advocate for those in need to find help, volunteer your time, and continue to support MHAF.

One special way is through the Combined Federal Campaign through your employer. This is the final week to make your CFC pledge! #ShowSomeLoveCFC to Mental Health America of Fredericksburg and help us continue our work to improve the mental health of our community. CFC #: 71643. Federal employees or retirees also have the option of making a pledge online at https://cfcgiving.opm.gov/welcome

You are the Face of Suicide Prevention

Another Day Walkers

Another Day Walk to Stop Suicide was a positive and hopeful experience. Amy Jones, the Another Day Campaign co-coordinator declared that we all “are the face of suicide prevention,” and called each of us to spend more than just one day raising awareness and erasing the stigma attached to mental illness and reaching out for help. Over 400 walkers, sponsors and volunteers gathered to take a stand for suicide prevention in our community. Thanks to all who participated or supported the walk.

With your support, $21,571.19 was raised to provide Suicide Prevention Education to local teens. They learn that mental illness is treatable and what the warning signs are for depression and suicide, while reinforcing help seeking behaviors. Suicide is not a normal response to stress. Don’t suffer in silence; there is help.

YOU ARE THE FACE OF SUICIDE PREVENTION. EVERY DAY.

Special thanks to our speakers Amy Jones and Trey Taylor for sharing their experiences and uplifting message. Watch the video recaps provided by Ted Schubel at B101.5 and Fredericksburg Today.
